Iku Oyamada
page content last updated May 1, 2022

Oyamada passed away in 2016.  Since then the digital rights to most of his library appear to have been acquired by Taiyoh Tosho (大洋図書).  Electronic editions of his works have been regularly released under Emperor's Comics (エンペラーズコミックス).  This label is generally used for men's comics, but is here being used for all of Oyamada's works, regardless of the intended audience of the original publication.

Other Works

Oyamada wrote primarily for boys.  Most of these works were also published by Akita Shoten under the Shounen Champion Comics (少年チャンピオンコミックス) label and rereleased electronically by Taiyoh Tosho under Emperor's Comics:

There are a few more titles from different publishers or different labels.  Kimagure Joushaken (気まぐれ乗車券) was published by Shogakukan (小学館) under Shounen Bic Comics (少年ビックコミックス).  Akita Shoten put out Locomotion (ろこモーション) 1-3 under Sunday Comics (サンデーコミックス), rereleased electronically by Taiyoh Tosho.  Shuurakuen (衆楽苑) was published by Akita Shoten in two volumes under Champion Jack Comics (チャンピオンJACKコミックス), again by Book-ing in a single wide-ban volume, and electronically in three volumes by Taiyoh Tosho.  Sudama (魑魅) was originally from Scholar (スコラ社) under Scholar Comics Burger (バーガーSC), then rereleased in two volumes by Sony Magazines (ソニー・マガジンズ) under Birz Comics (バーズコミックス), again in a single volume by Book-ing, and again in two electronic volumes by Taiyoh Tosho.

Oyamada did the illustrations for Manga de Wakaru Soft Kaihatsu Nyuumon Kouzouka Programming no Susume (マンガでわかるソフト開発入門 構造化プログラミングのすすめ), published by Nikkei BPM (日経BPM).  He also contributed to Kiseki no Spiritual Power Kyoui no Healer Asahi Taro:  Manga Makkigan mo Kokufuku!* (奇跡のスピリチュアル・ パワー驚異のヒーラー旭太郎 まんが末期がんも克服!) from Kaiohsha (海王社).

Ladies' titles drawn by Oyamada include the "true horror" collections Inagawa Junji no Saishin Kowai Hanashi (稲川淳二の最新・ 怖い話) and Inagawa Junji no Kyoufu Shinrei Gatari (稲川淳二の恐怖心霊がたり), published by Bunkasha (ぶんか社).  Both titles were also rereleased electronically; the first can be purchased as a single volume or as a series of seventeen separate parts.  He had works included in Bunkasha's Manga Grimm Douwa (まんがグリム童話) anthologies Aiyoku no Toriko Hen (愛欲の虜編), Shussan to Datai no Rekishi Hen* (出産と堕胎の歴史編), Jinshin Baibai no Yami Hen (人身売買の闇編), and Oooku Zankoku Shi (大奥残酷史).  The very last new volume that Oyamada released appears to be the digital-only single-author Manga Grimm Douwa (まんがグリム童話) title Saikasou Inbai Yuujo* (最下層淫売遊女).

Posthumously, the short piece Michi wa Concerto* (道はコンチェルト), a joint work with Oyamada's brother Yoshihisa Tagami (たがみよしひさ), appeared in the first volume of the latter's Bunkasha series Waga Na wa Wolf (我が名は狼).  Gogo no Akuma* (午後の悪魔), adapted by Oyamada from the story by mystery writer Kyoutarou Nishimura (西村京太郎), was included in both Comic Keiji Mystery Kessakushu 5:  Kondaku no Jashin Hanzai Hen (コミック刑事ミステリー傑作集5 混濁の邪心犯罪編 and Keishicho Totsugawa Keibu no Jikenbo & Tetsudo Mystery Best Comic (警視庁十津川警部の事件簿&鉄道ミステリーベストコミック) 7, volumes of digest anthology series published by Akita Shoten under Akita Top Comics Wide.
